The Contribution of Caffeine in Building Strength and Endurance

The Contribution of Caffeine in Building Strength and Endurance

Probably drinking coffee (in any form) doesn’t seem particularly sporty. But we must not forget about one of the most famous ingredients of this drink. So, let’s look at the contribution of caffeine in building strength and endurance.

What is caffeine?

The one who casually orders, for example, espresso in the cafeteria, usually does not think that he is drinking a substance that has a strong contribution to sports stress. That is why we should remember the Italian racing cyclists, who regularly drink, one after the other, espresso. They, namely, they know well the power and effect of black coffee beans.

So, we are talking about caffeine, an essential ingredient in coffee, tea, energy drinks and sports nutrition. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system and keeps us awake with its effect. Also, it shortens our relaxation and increases the possibility of concentration. The strongest effect of caffeine is reached about 30 minutes after consuming the food that contains it. Likewise, its effect can last up to 4 hours. In addition, it has a proven effect on fat metabolism, thus saving energy reserves in the muscles. At the same time, experts attribute to it the effect of relieving pain after intense exertion.

Some more effects of caffeine

The following fact is also interesting: according to some tests after the training, experts noticed that coughing, shortness of breath, etc. occur less often. In other words, this substance also relaxes the muscles of the respiratory organs, which benefits people with respiratory disorders, who are exposed to the most the effort. Thanks to its antidepressant effect, the mentioned coffee ingredient has a positive effect on the psyche. So, caffeine increases our motivation for the next training, that is, for effort.

But, …

Like any other substance that affects the body and mind, caffeine also has a few downsides. It affects the water balance in the body and encourages urination. For this reason, it is necessary to drink more water in order to prevent dehydration. In addition, the molecule adenosine, which promotes blood flow to the heart, will be blocked in case of excessive caffeine intake. Therefore, people with cardiovascular problems should give up the consumption of these drinks, or reduce it to the smallest possible extent.

Based on everything that we have presented above, it is clear that this “black drink”, like other energy drinks, has a positive effect. Therein lies the contribution of caffeine in building strength and endurance.

But any overdose and excessive intake of this substance has the opposite or negative result. Because, let’s not forget – the dose we ingest depends on whether something will be medicine or poison.
